No longer delicious (in name)

In April 2025 we'll launch our new logo, look and labels. But what's the truth behind the story?

The bell is simple – to this day it hangs on the back of The Old Rectory where your jams, chutneys and marmalades are made. There’s an antique iron crank handle above the Old Maid’s Room that visitors and children still love clanging today.

But two hundred years ago, the Rector rang it for another reason: letting workers in the field know it was time for lunch – a hunk of basic bread, some local cheese and a spoonful of jam or chutney. However, an elephant and tiger broke the peace of this hamlet … 

enter Lady Meux: A zebra-riding, roller-skating aristocrat who rode elephants to the local hunt and tied a tiger up at our gates as revenge on the Rector of Dauntsey. We'll be very proud to launch our hand-illustrated design at the Farm Shop & Deli Show at the NEC, Birmingham in April. It reflects a wonderful eccentric history of people and strange goings on here at the Rectory and our little Wiltshire hamlet.
